CPB Contractors, BAM, Ghella and UGL Joint Venture (CBGU D&C JV), has been appointed the principal design and construction contractor for the Tunnel and Stations package of the Cross River Rail project, which includes:

  • Four new, state-of-the-art underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street and an upgrade of the Dutton Park station
  • A 10.2km rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and Brisbane CBD

With major construction expected to be completed in late 2024, Cross River Rail will unlock the bottleneck at the core of Brisbane’s transport network, allowing more trains to run more often and integrating with new roads and bus services allowing future network growth in the region.

The project will increase public transport network services, their connectivity and encourage more people to use public transport, helping to ease congestion on major arterial roads.

Cross River Rail will also be one of Queensland’s most important job generating projects and will support economic growth and employment for Queenslanders for years to come. During its construction the project will provide an average of 1,500 jobs per year, and create an equivalent of 450 apprenticeships and traineeships throughout the life of the project.

This transformational project will improve quality of life, help economy keep growing, generate thousands of jobs and activate urban development, across the whole of South East Queensland.
